Description: Molybdenum disulfide - a gray-blue or black crystalline
powder, greasy to the touch (like graphite), hardness 1-1.5 on the Mohs
scale (leaves black trace on the paper). Molybdenum disulfide is
non-toxic and chemically neutral to oil lubricants.
Purpose: Molybdenum disulfide (analog of DMI-7) is used as a
component of solid and liquid lubricants, including those intended for
use at high temperatures (up to 400° C). Used as a filter
to polymers (nylon, teflon, and vespel), when added to the plastic
MoS2 forms a composite material with
improved durability and reduced friction.
Forms of delivery: plywood drums.
Synonyms: DMI-7 (ДМИ-7), molybdenite.
Formula: MoS2
